DIN 58397-1
Production in optical engineering - Testing of lubricating greases for precision engineering and optical instruments - Part 1: Evaporation loss

Title (German)

Optikfertigung - Prüfung von Schmierfetten für feinmechanisch-optische Geräte - Teil 1: Verdampfungsverlust

Overview

The method according to this standard serves for assessment of the suitability of lubricating greases according to DIN 58396-2 for applications where it is expected that volatile matter of a fat condensates on an instrument where the films caused by this are functionally disruptive, for example, on optically effective regions, at electric contacts. The method also allows for obtaining information if an evaporation loss of base oil components leads to impermissible modifications of lubricating greases (drying) and therewith, to malfunctions of an instrument. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 027-01-11 AA "Fertigungsmittel der Optik" ("Production means in optical engineering") at NAFuO.
