Privacy policy for services requiring registration

Protecting the security and privacy of your personal data is important to us, and so we conduct our business in compliance with all applicable laws on data privacy protection and data security. An external, independent data protection officer monitors our actions to ensure legal conformity.

In principle, you may visit DIN's websites without giving your identity. If you send us an e-mail or contact form, your message and your e-mail address will only be used to correspond with you. The processing of your communication may require this to be forwarded to other sections within the DIN Group (DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V.; Beuth Verlag GmbH; DIN Software GmbH). It will not be forwarded to third parties. In the case of our services requiring registration, it is necessary for us to collect and process some of your personal data. Please take note of the relevant data protection notices in such cases.

When you access our websites, you provide us with utilization data on, for example, screen resolution, browser version, internet access, operating system, language, plug-ins, where you are (country or region), and search engines. This data will only be used for statistical purposes. It will not be forwarded to third parties and will not be analysed in relation to the user.
When visiting individual pages, session cookies are used to facilitate navigation on the site. These cookies expire when the session is closed and do not contain personal data (i.e. the content of the cookies is not evaluated in relation to the user).

This website uses etracker technology belonging to the company "etracker GmbH" to collect visitor behaviour data. This data is collected anonymously to be used for marketing and optimization purposes. All visitor data is saved using an anonymous user ID and can be used to aggregate a usage profile. Cookies may be used for this purpose. These are small files stored in the visitor’s local browser cache. They help recognize the internet browser being used. Data that is collected using etracker technology without the express consent of the person concerned is not used to identify visitors to this website, nor will it be combined with the personal information of the bearer of the pseudonym. The collection and storage of this data may be revoked at any time.

When you register for DIN's online services (the DIN Online Standards Proposal, DIN Draft Standards or DIN-TERMinology portals), you are authorized to use these services. This authorization is initially valid for 28 days. If you do not sign on within this time period, your personal data is automatically deleted.
Once you have signed on, your personal data will be automatically deleted if you do not use our portal within a 12 month period. Up until this time your data will only be used for the purposes of access control.

When you submit something either to the Online Standards Proposal portal or the Draft Standards portal, this information is passed on to the responsible parties within the DIN Group and the responsible DIN standardizing body for the purposes of standards work. Access to your data is limited to authorized personnel only, and only when necessary to fulfil the specific task at hand. We will process or use your data for advertising purposes only with your consent.

We will be happy to answer any query you may have regarding data protection. Send an e-mail to our data protection officer.
