To be able to play an active role and support the international activities on the topic of "Smart Textiles and Wearables” the establishment of a DIN/DKE joint working committee is in its founding process. Amongst others active support and the drafting of standards in the field of electronic devices and technologies that can be permanently worn on the body and that contain materials, components and devices that can be attached, implanted and/or ingested on the body are on the agenda.

Another field that will be in view is functional textile materials (also electronic) and devices for their manufacture, intelligent (smart) textile materials, intelligent textile products and intelligent textile systems.
