Protective clothing for mine rescue — Test methods and performance requirements for protective clothing for indirect firefighting and technical rescue
Abstract
This document specifies test methods and minimum performance requirements for protective clothing intended for use by mine rescue teams in indirect firefighting and technical rescue operations where there is a risk of ignition or contamination. The protective clothing is intended to protect the wearer’s body, excluding the head, hands and feet. It specifies the general design of the garments, the minimum performance levels to be achieved by the constituent materials, and the test methods for determining these levels. This document does not address protective clothing for higher-risk situations that fall within the scope of DIN 23320. Specific hazards such as dust explosions and gas explosions are not considered in this document. This protective clothing is intended to be worn in combination with head protection (e.g. helmet and, where applicable, a fire hood), hand protection, foot protection and respiratory protective equipment.
