Pigments - Sustainable industrially produced carbon blacks - Requirements and methods of test
Pigmente - Nachhaltig industriell hergestellte Pigmentruße - Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren
Overview
This document specifies requirements and corresponding test methods for sustainable industrially produced carbon blacks, namely carbon blacks used in paints and similar coating materials, printing inks, plastics, and other products for coloring purposes. Carbon blacks according to this document are industrially manufactured pigments produced by thermal-oxidative and/or thermal cracking of hydrocarbons, which are oxidatively post-treated if necessary. The carbon blacks are available in powder or bead form. Sustainability is achieved through the use of renewable raw materials or recycled and pyrolyzed finished products. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 078-00-03 AA "Allgemeine Prüfverfahren für Farbmittel und Füllstoffe" ("General test methods for colorants and extenders") at DIN Standards Committee Pigments and Extenders (NPF).
