DIN Standards Committee Aerospace

Overview

The EN 4644 series of standards describes modular rectangular electrical and optical connectors with rectangular inserts, operating temperature 175 °C (or 125 °C) continuous. The connectors described in this standard are suitable for use on board of commercial and military aircraft for rack and panel applications under rough environmental conditions. The new edition of part 141 specifies free size 4 connectors for rack and panel applications, classes C and D. The receptacle corresponding to this plug is defined in EN 4644-142. This size 4 free plug connector can also be mated with two size 2 receptacle connectors. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN EN 4644-141:2012-03 as follows: a) The scope has been supplemented by reference to the coupling possibility with two fixed connectors of size 2; b) Figure 1 has been revised and the legend extended; c) the housing class has been changed in the sample designation in Clause 5. The standards of the EN 4644 series are prepared by the ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrotechnology, with the participation of German experts from DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL). AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-03 AA "Elektrische Verbindungselemente" ("Electrical Connectors") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
