Abstract

This document is a part of the EN 9300 series. This standard addresses requirements for the long-term archiving of digital product information, applicable to the international aerospace industry. These standard addresses requirements which enable interoperability of data (content, Metadata) created in current systems for use in or exchange with future systems, protecting the investment the data represents. This document establishes the requirements for types of Metadata needed to define an EN/NAS 9300 compliant Archive package, common to all domains. Domain parts (1xx, 2xx, 3xx etc) may provide requirements for content specific metadata in a similar format to this part or more explicitly define domain specific schema or ontologies used to define Metadata specific to the domain. This document is not intended to incorporate company specific requirements and does not dictate specific organizational structures within a company. This standard does not specify a design or an implementation of an Archive system. Actual implementations may distribute responsibilities or break out functionality differently. This standard assumes that all requirements for configuration management of the Product Data are in place and therefore are not specifically described in this document.
