The scope of WG 5 is the compliance-assessment of ELT-derived materials with appropriate technical standards and existing/forthcoming regulations. Rubber and other ELT-derived materials can be used in several applications to provide physical/chemical properties which are measured by means of technical standards often developed for different materials. As an example, rubber can be used as a bitumen-modifier to enhance the elastic properties of asphalt pavements. Most of the standards that have been developed to measure the physical properties of Polymer modified Bitumen- PmB are not fit for rubber and require some minor adjustments (e.g. different settings of rheometers). WG5 identifies the CEN/ISO technical committees dedicated to developing standards in specific fields where ELT-derived materials can be used and proposes to the CEN/TC 366 the opening of liaisons to cooperate with them.
