German standard methods for the examination of water, waste water and sludge - Parameters characterizing effects and substances (group H) - Part 65: Determination of filterable substances (AFS ₆₃) from runoff (H 65)
Abstract
This document specifies a method for determining fine filterable solids (AFS63, solids ≤63 µm) in street drains using sieving and filtration. Before determining AFS63, a preliminary screening of particle sizes > 2 000 µm must be performed. If, in addition to determining AFS63, the determination of AFSgrob (>63 µm to 2 000 µm) is planned, guidance is provided for this purpose. The detection limit of the AFS63 method is approximately 5 mg/l, based on commercially available filters with diameters of 47 mm. No upper limit has been specified. Samples containing more than 1 000 mg/l of filterable substances may require special treatment.
