German standard methods for the examination of water, waste water and sludge - General information (group A) - Sampling of water from mineral springs and spas (A 18)
Abstract
This standard describes a method of collecting, preparing, preserving and transporting samples of mineral-spring and spa water for the purposes of determining physical, physico-chemical and chemical parameters of such water. This standard is not applicable to the collection of samples for the following purposes. a) Bio-assays and microbiological examinations. These require special sampling methods, which are described in DIN 38 411 Part 1 and DIN 38 412 Part 1. b) The examination of mail-order spa water. In this case, samples are collected from bottles, in accordance with article 21 ff. and article 64 ff. of the Arzneimittel- gesetz (German Drugs Act). c) Bottled natural mineral water submitted with an application for approval (cf. clause 3 of the Allgemeine Verwaltungsvorschrift zur Mineral- und Tafelwasser- Verordnung (General administrative provisions relating to the German Mineral and Table Water Regulation). General information on sampling is provided in International Standards ISO 5667-1:1980 and ISO 5667-2:1982. Detailed instructions on sampling from aquifers are given in DVWK-Merkblatt 203 (DVWK Instruction Sheet 203) and DIN 38 402 Part 13.
