Thermal Energy Storage (TES) Systems
The Workshop will focus on the semantic modelling and standardization of TES systems to improve their integration and performance within modern energy ecosystems. This includes developing a comprehensive ontology for TES that defines key attributes (e.g., capacity, thermal properties, operational modes) and supports use cases such as renewable energy integration, demand-side management, and smart grid services. The scope includes: • Semantic alignment with existing energy and IoT ontologies, including extensions like SAREF4ENER. • Validation and testing of the ontology in diverse real-world scenarios, as demonstrated in pilot use cases. • Documentation of integration guidelines and best practices for using SAREF4TESS in energy management systems. The scope excludes the physical design or engineering specifications of TES systems, economic or policy frameworks for TES deployment, and aspects unrelated to semantic modelling, such as hardware-specific implementations. The focus remains on semantic interoperability, data standardization, and TES integration within broader energy management systems.
