Safety-related requirements for simulations in healthcare in education, training and continuing professional development

Abstract

This document applies to the planning, preparation, conduct, and follow-up of simulations in the healthcare sector as part of education, training, and continuing education. This document establishes safety-related requirements for conducting simulations in the healthcare sector and sets forth general principles for the systematic identification, assessment, and minimization of hazards in the context of simulations. This document provides guidance for conducting simulations under realistic yet safe conditions. This document addresses safety-related aspects associated with simulations, particularly with regard to participants, locations, technical systems, and methodological and organizational frameworks. This document requires users to conduct an independent, facility- and scenario-specific assessment of their respective simulations based on the requirements contained herein.
