Overview

This European Standard specifies the reaction to fire classification procedure for electric cables. For the purpose of this European Standard the term "electric cables" covers all power, control and communication cables, including optical fibre cables. The aim of this European Standard is to define a harmonized procedure for the classification of reaction to fire of electric cables. This document (EN 13501-6:2014) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 127 "Fire safety in buildings", the secretariat of which is held by BSI. The responsible German body involved in its preparation is NA 005-52-01 AA "Brandverhalten von Baustoffen und Bauteilen - Baustoffe (SpA zu CEN/TC 127/WG 4 sowie Teilbereichen von CEN/TC 127/WG 7 und ISO/TC 92/SC 1)" ("Reaction to fire of building materials and building components - Building materials (national mirror committee for CEN/TC 127/WG 4 and sub-sections of CEN/TC 127/WG 7 and ISO/TC 92/SC 1)").
