Electrical installations in residential buildings - Part 1: Planning principles
Abstract
This document is applicable for the planning and documentation of electrical installations in residential buildings (e.g., multi-family houses, row houses, single-family houses), as well as related electrical installations outside of these buildings. Specific operational installations, such as elevators and their technical operating rooms, must be planned separately and are excluded from this document. This document is also applicable for residential buildings with partial commercial use. The requirements of this document apply to new constructions and can also be applied to existing buildings. For buildings with comparable requirements for electrical equipment, the document can be applied analogously. Electrical installations in residential buildings include: — Power installations with nominal voltages up to AC 1,000 V and DC 1,500 V, — Information and communication technology (ICT) systems, home communication systems, as well as other signaling and information processing installations, — Broadcasting and communication technology (BCT) systems with or without connection to a publicly accessible network of a network operator, — Lightning protection systems, and — the building's grounding system. This standard is also applicable for installations that are equipped with building system technology. NOTE 1: See also DIN 18015-4 for this. NOTE 2: Special requirements for barrier-free usage are specified in DIN 18040-2.
