Industrial, commercial, garage doors and gates - Product standard, performance characteristics
Abstract
This document specifies the performance characteristics for a) power operated and manually operated industrial, commercial, garage doors, intended o for installation to close an opening and o to provide passage in areas in the reach of persons, to provide passage mainly for goods and vehicles accompanied or driven by persons in industrial, commercial or residential premises without fire resistance and/or smoke control characteristics, or with fire resistance and smoke control characteristics (fire compartmentation), and b) power operated or manually operated gates, intended o as a section of a fence or a wall outside the building envelope and o to be used to allow and restrict entrance to a restricted or bounded area, and c) power operated or manually operated barriers, intended o to be installed internally in walls or partitions, in external walls as part of the building, or externally in fences or walls outside the building envelope and o to be used to control passage of pedestrian or vehicles through an entrance. This document also covers commercial doors such as rolling shutters and rolling grilles used in retail premises which are mainly provided for the access of persons and vehicles or goods. Industrial, commercial, garage doors and gates can include pedestrian pass doors incorporated in the door leaf which are also covered by this document. This document does not provide any indications to the door leaf material (e.g. polymers, fabrics or composites). NOTE The requirements and rules for variations (regarding the direct and extended field of applications) of fire resistance and/or smoke control door are given in Annex C, C.5.5 as well as in the EN 15269 series, EN 17020 series, EN 1634-1 and EN 1634-3. This document does not apply to: o lock gates and dock gates; o doors on lifts; o doors on vehicles; o doors mainly for the retention of animals, unless they are at the site perimeter; o theatre textile curtains; o doors mainly intended for pedestrian use according to EN 14351-1:2006+A2:2016, EN 14351-2:2018 and EN 16361:2013+A1:2016; o doors outside the reach of people (such as crane gantry fences); o railway barriers; o barriers intended solely for use by pedestrians (such as products according to EN 17352:2022); o barriers used solely for vehicles on motorways; o reused products; o natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilation
