Abstract

This document sets forth the requirements for the planning and construction of facilities (access routes and work areas) necessary for performing chimney sweeping work (cleaning, testing, and inspection) on exhaust systems of buildings. These facilities are part of the building. This document applies to facilities (traffic routes and work areas) required for performing chimney sweeping work (cleaning, testing, and inspection) on exhaust systems of buildings for which planning or construction began after this standard came into effect. Based on the current Regulation on Safety and Health Protection at Construction Sites (Baustellenverordnung —BaustellV), general principles for the prevention of safety and health hazards must be taken into account during the execution planning and preparation of the construction project. To fulfill this requirement, the building owner is obligated to compile a document that takes into account the characteristics of the building and contains relevant information regarding safety and health protection that must be considered during regular chimney sweeping work. General requirements for the maintenance of building structures are contained in the building codes of the federal states and are specified in this standard with regard to the design of work areas and traffic routes.
