Building hardware - Hardware for windows and door height windows - Requirements and test methods - Part 5: Devices that restrict the opening of windows and door height windows
Abstract
This document specifies requirements and test methods for durability, strength, security and function of devices that restrict the opening of windows and door height windows to a maximum opening width. Depending on the requirements imposed in Member States on the basis of building regulations or in tenders for window or door height windows, the hardware manufacturer should design the restrictors to allow opening widths of for example max. 89 mm, max. 100 mm or max. 120 mm; for the use of restrictors in building components. This document does not apply a) to restrictors with an opening width limitation of more than 120 mm; b) to child protective window restrictors intended to be installed by the end consumers; such restrictors from the DIY market are covered in EN 16281; c) restrictors for window designs with sliding sashes. This document applies to restrictors that are intended to be factory installed in windows and door height windows by specialist companies in their production facilities.
