Earthworks - Chemical tests - Part 5: Determination of water-soluble salts content in soils by gravimetric method (CEN/TS 17685-5)
Abstract
The aim of this standard is to describe a test to determine the soluble salt content of a soil sample (SS, ), which are generally composed of inorganic ions such as sulphates, chlorides, nitrites, nitrates, bicarbonates, sodium, ammonium, calcium, magnesium, and strontium, by initial dissolution in demineralized water and subsequent weighing of the residue obtained by evaporation. The result obtained with this standard does not include all the salts present in the soil, only those that are dissolved by the conditions set in this standard. This result is not comparable with those obtained by Technical Specification CEN/TS 17685-3:2024 (sulphates in soils).
