Sustainable production of mineral and metal raw materials from mining and recycling
All aspects of standardization for sustainability in: • the production of mineral and metal raw materials from primary and secondary sources; • the value chain from extraction or recycling, treatment, smelting, to refining; • the mine life cycle from exploration, construction, operation to mine closure, reclamation, and post-closure. Sustainability aspects include environmental, social, economic and governance issues, and may also include carbon- and environmental footprint, circularity, material efficiency and traceability. Excluded: ⎯ Energy raw materials, i.e. coal, oil and gas ⎯ Aspects covered by CEN/TC 472 ‘Rare earth'
