Paints and varnishes - Determination of volatile organic compound (VOC) - Gas-chromatographic method with headspace injection for VOC determination (ISO/DIS 17895:2023); German and English version prEN ISO 17895:2023

Abstract

This document specifies a gas chromatographic method for the quantitative determination of the volatile organic compound (VOC) content (i. e. with a boiling point (or initial boiling point) not exceeding 250 °C) at normal pressure conditions (1013.25 hPa) in water-thinnable emulsion paints (In-can VOC). It is applicable for VOC contents between 0.01% and 0.1% (mass fraction). The main purpose of this method is to qualify water-thinnable emulsion paints with low VOC content, but it is not used for routine quality control.
