DIN Standards Committee Railway
State of railway vehicles - Basic principles - Part 7: Non-destructive testing (NDT)
Abstract
The documents in the complete works "Condition of Railway Vehicles" contained technical specifications for safety-related and monitoring-required systems and components of railway vehicles. The standards of the complete work “Condition of Railway Vehicles” define the limit state for the safe operation of railway vehicles and their components. They are to be applied if the vehicles are operated on public railway infrastructure. The minimum requirements for the processes for maintaining the target condition of railway vehicles specified in the standards are also to be applied. Each vehicle is assigned an entity in charge of maintenance (ECM) that determines the applicable regulations and their implementation for NDT in maintenance. It is necessary to check special components for damage before they are reused. To ensure that all damage is detected, the test procedures specified in this document must be used. This document does not apply to components that are subject to other regulations, such as RID or BetrSichV. The requirements for wheelsets are described in DIN EN 16910-1.
