Light and lighting - Part 3: Lighting of health care premises
Abstract
This document specifies the requirements and recommendations for lighting in healthcare facilities in conjunction with DIN EN 12464-1. It supplements DIN EN 12464-1 with requirements and recommendations for patients, those in need of care, employees, and visitors, taking into account their varying lighting needs. If specific areas of the healthcare sector are not addressed in this document, comparable visual tasks or activities and their lighting requirements may be used as a reference. This also applies to elder care and similar facilities. Specific medical conditions (e.g., dementia and Parkinson’s disease) require higher and/or different lighting quality characteristics. For veterinary medicine facilities, the requirements specified here may apply to similar visual tasks. This document does not address light therapy or related treatment methods. This document does not apply to the lighting of workplaces with regard to occupational safety and health.
