Daylight in interiors - Part 7: Simplified determination of minimum window sizes for living spaces
Abstract
This document establishes a tabular method for determining minimum window sizes for living spaces. The minimum window size required to achieve the "Low" recommendation level for the daylight supply criterion according to DIN EN 17037 is specified for various boundary conditions. For interior spaces with skylights, the minimum skylight area required to achieve the "Medium" recommendation level is also specified. For windows in vertical facades, the minimum window size required to achieve the minimum illuminance defined in DIN 5034-1 under the specified boundary conditions is provided. This document is to be used both when planning window sizes for new residential buildings and when verifying window sizes in existing residential buildings.
