This committee develops standards regarding technical specifications for nuts made of alloy and non-alloy steels. The mechanical characteristics of nuts with coarse and fine pitch thread are specified. Furthermore, the test procedures are specified, with the help of which the monitoring can be assured and the compliance with these characteristics can be ascertained. Furthermore, specifications with regard to the surface integrity of nuts are elaborated. In addition, this committee develops product standards on nuts of various product grades and types, e.g. square and hexagon nuts, prevailing torque type nuts, nuts with flange, weld nuts, pipe nuts, cap nuts, hexagon slotted and castle nuts.
