Overview
PV systems have an expected lifetime of decades. During this period safe operation and a high yield should be ensured. To achieve this goal this standard specifies the performance of passive thermographic tests on PV modules and systems in operation for the purpose of condition analysis. These tests are intended to support preventive maintenance, fire protection, equipment availability, and module quality verification. It refers only to the specific components of the PV system, the testing of the electrical equipment from the module to the entry of the DC wiring into the inverter: the core component is the modules, but switches, fuses, busbar systems, electrical connections, battery systems and cables can also be checked. The responsible committee is DKE/K 373 "Photovoltaische Solarenergie-Systeme" ("Photovoltaic solar power systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
