Abstract
Corrigendum 1 to IEC 61558-1:2017, published in 2025, does not introduce new general technical requirements. It exclusively clarifies subclause 19.12.3 on winding construction. The fourth paragraph is replaced to clearly define how creepage distances and clearances are assessed for spirally wrapped insulation. Depending on whether the measured values meet P1 or P2 limits, the corrigendum specifies when additional tests or sealing against dust and moisture are required. A new figure is added to illustrate the principle for reinforced insulation.
