Abstract

This document gives guidance on the labelling for NdFeB-containing products. This document specifies - the graphical format and the modes of application on the product to ensure the label is easily located, legible and scannable in the end-of-life state of the product; - how the data carrier must be chosen so it can comprise all necessary information while maintaining a physical format suitable for differently sized products; - who shall be able to read what types of information on the data carrier, minding possible trade secrets as well as accessibility to recycling related SMEs and academia; - the chemical composition of the magnets as well as the additive materials like coatings and adhesives; - the format of this data; - the steps required for accessing and the safe removal of magnets, using a range of different options of tools and technologies for each step, providing the recyclers a practically useful, unequivocal guide on how the disassembly of the magnets can be done most efficiently; - whether and how the recycling efficiency should be tested, evaluated and added into the comprised data. This document is applicable to products including permanent magnets in electric machines as well as within other arrangements, like audio modules or singular magnets.
