DIN EN 12464-1 Beiblatt 1
Light and lighting - Lighting of work places - Part 1: Indoor work places; Supplement 1: Lighting concepts and lighting types for artificial lighting

Title (German)

Licht und Beleuchtung - Beleuchtung von Arbeitsstätten - Teil 1: Arbeitsstätten in Innenräumen; Beiblatt 1: Beleuchtungskonzepte und Beleuchtungsarten für künstliche Beleuchtung

Overview

The Supplement adds to the European Standard for the lighting of work places DIN EN 12464-1:2011-08 and contains content from DIN 5035-7:2004-08 that is not covered in DIN EN 12464-1:2011-08. The focus of DIN 5035-7 was on lighting with regard to VDU technology and VDU work. Qualitative and quantitative requirements for the lighting of workplaces with screens, in particular the luminaires used for this purpose, are regulated in DIN EN 12464-1. This Supplement, on the other hand, focuses on the description of lighting concepts and types of lighting. This Supplement serves to interpret DIN EN 12464-1:2011-08. It contains recommendations for the planning of lighting systems and provides explanations on the application of DIN EN 12464-1 in Germany. This Supplement does not contain any additional standardized specifications to DIN EN 12464-1:2011-08. The contents of this Supplement to DIN EN 12464-1:2011 relate to the requirements for visual comfort and visual performance and not to the requirements for the safety and health of employees at work and are primarily aimed at planners. It describes the framework conditions for the planning implementation of lighting concepts and types of lighting. Furthermore, this Supplement serves as an aid to understanding between DIN EN 12464-1 and ASR A3.4 which is valid in Germany. It should be noted that the basic requirements for lighting in workplaces are regulated in the German Ordinance on Workplaces [ArbStättV] and the published ASR (ASR A3.4). The specific requirements regarding lighting at VDU workstations are currently still regulated in the VDU Workplace Ordinance (later in the ArbStättV and possibly in ASR Bildschirmarbeit). The regulations are based on EU directives. This Supplement has been prepared by Working Group NA 058-00-04-07 AK "Beleuchtung von Bildschirmarbeitsplätzen" ("Lighting of workplaces with display screen") of Working Committee NA 058-00-04 AA "Innenraumbeleuchtung mit künstlichem Licht" ("Artificial indoor lighting") at DIN Standards Committee Lighting Technology (FNL).
