DIN 2335
German language names for the alpha-2 code according to ISO 639-1

Title (German)

Deutsche Sprachennamen für den Alpha-2-Code nach ISO 639-1

Overview

This standard is intended for communication in science, business and administration; it is also applicable in other fields such as engineering, especially information technology. It contains the two-letter language characters standardized in ISO 639-2 (database version 2012-12) for the purpose of international information and data exchange in the fields of librarianship, documentation, linguistics, lexicography, and terminology. It also specifies recommended language names for use in German for the languages listed in ISO 639-1, one of which is marked as preferred. This standard applies to all cases in which language symbols are to be used to indicate the language in which a designation or text is rendered. In addition, it makes it possible - in connection with the applicable standards - to indicate the geographical distribution of names according to countries or parts of language areas.
