Testing of textiles - Determination of metals - Part 2: Determination of extractable metals by hydrochloric acid

Title (German)

Prüfung von Textilien - Bestimmung von Metallen - Teil 2: Bestimmung von extrahierbaren Metallen mit Salzsäure

Overview

This standard specifies a method for determining antimony (Sb), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), nickel (Ni) in natural and synthetic textile fibres by means of extraction with hydrochloric acid. In order to determine the soluble metals, the chopped up textile sample is extracted with 0,07 mol/l HCl. Analysis is effected by using suitable analysis techniques of atomic absorption and mass spectrometry (for example ICP MS, ICP OES, AAS, cold-vapour technique) The committee responsible for this standard is NA 062-05-12 AA "Textilchemische Prüfverfahren und Fasertrennung" ("Testing methods for separation and chemistry of textile fibres") at DIN.
