DIN 14885
Electrical tool-box for fire-brigades with insulated tools up to 1000 V

Title (German)

Feuerwehr-Elektrowerkzeugkasten mit bis 1000 V isolierten Werkzeugen

Overview

The standard is applicable to an electrical tool-box for activation and deactivation of electrical installations up to 1 000 V for fire-fighting and civil protection purposes, carried along as fire-fighting equipment on fire-fighting and rescue service vehicles. It specifies the compilation of insulated tools up to 1 000 V for activation and deactivation of low voltage electrical installations; these switching operations may exclusively be performed by qualified electricians or electro-technically trained personnel of the installation operator (see DIN EN 50110-1 (VDE 0105-1)). This excludes household installations which may also be activated and deactivated by electro-technically trained fire fighters (see GUV I 8651, Part C 24). Regarding the equipment, standardized tools have been chosen where possible. The standard points out that, in case of possible spatial and dimensional reserves, the loading of the boxes may be supplemented as desired, taking into account the special safety requirements for electrical tool-boxes. The following reason is given for the modification of the previous edition DIN 14885 of March 2009: - since these boxes are not produced from wood, the wooden design version has been deleted; - the dividers are specified in the relevant individual standards for fire equipment boxes; - in the future, a permanently installed divider for most fire equipment boxes will be possible in addition to a variable divider. This standard differs from DIN 14885:2009-03 as follows: a) the wooden design version and the coating requirements have been deleted; b) the requirements for dividers in 6.1 have been revised; c) marking has been revised; d) the standard has been editorially revised. Therefore, this standard edition represents a consolidated version of the standard into which all modifications have been incorporated. It has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-04-09 AA "Sonstige Ausrüstung - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 5" ("Other equipment - mirror committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 5") of the Firefighting and Fire Protection Standards Committee (FNFW) in collaboration with FNFW Working Committee NA 031-02-02 AA "Elektrische Betriebsmittel" ("Electrical equipment").
