INTEGRADDE aimed to develop an integrated manufacturing solution that demonstrates the potential of DED (Direct Energy Deposition) for the large-scale production of certified metal components for use in metalworking sectors. The aim was to ensure a cybersecured bidirectional dataflow for seamless integration across the entire AM chain (additive manufacturing).

Other manufacturing methods include Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) for the production of complex geometries in medium sized components requiring higher accuracy and Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) for simpler geometries with higher deposition rates.

The goal was to develop a new manufacturing methodology capable of ensuring the manufacturability, reliability and quality of a target metal component from the original product design.

INTEGRADDE combineed research on building strategy optimisation, multi-scale and multi-physics modelling, hardware-independent building process, automatic building strategy generation, online self-adaptative control and inline quality assurance for the manufacturing of certified metal parts, addressing mass customisation manufacturing approach.

DIN was the project's contact for questions concerning standardization and coordinated standardization activities. Thus, DIN developed an effective instrument for the transfer of knowledge from research to practice.

Success

The INTEGRADDE project has formed liaisons with various working groups of ISO/ TC 261 Additive Manufacturing: WG 2 Processes, systems, and materials, WG 3 Test methods and quality specifications and WG 4 Data and Design. In this way, a close exchange was maintained with these committees.

The INTEGRADDE experts contributed project results to the development of ISO/ASTM PWI 52951 Additive Manufacturing - Data - Data packages for AM parts.

Two of the project partners want to continue their involvement in standardization after the end of the project.
