Projects Ageing Societies

Älterer Mann beim Surfen im Meer

Ageing societies present a challenge globally, but also an opportunity, in particular for policymakers, industry and science. Many senior citizens want to lead active and independent lives in their later years. Assistive technology helps them to achieve this goal. Medical services and the product development field also have to adapt to this demographic shift. The terms “ageing societies” and “ambient assisted living” encompass a wide range of topics such as sensory analysis, medical technology, nursing and home health care, prevention, ergonomics, IT and services. Ageing societies impact such a diverse and wide range of areas that it is essential for standardization to take these issues into account early on, especially in research and innovation projects.
