Title (German)

Raumfahrttechnik - Anforderungen an Satelliten-AOCS; Englische Fassung EN 16603-60-30:2015

Overview

The requirements of the Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS) are a typical part of the project requirements document when developing space programs. The level of completeness and detail varies greatly from project to project. This standard provides the baseline for AOCS requirements that are used during the specification and validation process. This standard is intended to be used by each program as the information input for creating the project requirements document. It contains all topics related to AOCS: functional and FDIR requirements, operational requirements, performance requirements, verification requirements, and documentation requirements. This standard defines the baseline of the requirements of the attitude and orbit control system to be used in the project requirements document for space-related applications. Project requirements documents are contained in business agreements that are agreed between the parties at each level of the space programs and bind them as described in ECSS-S-ST-00. This standard covers the attitude and orbit control system developed as part of the satellite space project. The classical attitude and orbit control systems considered here include the following functions: attitude assessment; attitude guidance; attitude control; trajectory guidance; trajectory assessment, referred to in this document as "navigation", may be part of the function on missions that explicitly require this function; seeking and maintaining safe flight attitude in an emergency and returning to the nominal mission on command. The current standard does not cover missions involving the following functions: real-time onboard flight guidance and control system, onboard relative position sensing and control system. Examples of such missions are rendezvous missions, formation flights, launchers and interplanetary spacecraft. Although this document does not deal with the above mentioned mission types, it can be used as a reference document for them. This standard may be adapted to the specific characteristics and requirements of a space project according to ECSS-ST-00. This document (EN 16603-60-30:2015) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/CLC/TC 5 "Space", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany). This document has been prepared specifically to deal with space systems and therefore takes precedence over any European Standard, as it has the same scope but a wider scope (for example aerospace). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-06-02 AA "Interoperabilität von Informations-, Kommunikations- und Navigationssystemen" ("Interoperability of information, communication and navigation systems") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
