Overview
This standard defines application-related requirements for factory-made thermal insulation materials for buildings in accordance with DIN EN 13162, DIN EN 13163, DIN EN 13164, DIN EN 13165, DIN EN 13166, DIN EN 13167, DIN EN 13168, DIN EN 13169, DIN EN 13170 and DIN EN 13171 and assigns thermal insulation materials to fields of application which are identified by letter symbols. This way, planners and users of thermal insulation materials can select the suitable application types. This standard contains specifications for the quality assurance of thermal insulation materials for their application. This standard does not regulate the use of thermal insulation materials for building services and technical systems and of on-site thermal insulation materials which are produced at the point of use. This standard does not regulate the use of thermal insulation materials for which no corresponding European Standard applies. Application guidelines, technical rules, information sheets and applications which require a general building inspection approval or a general building inspection test certificate are not the subject of this standard. In the case of industrial floors and parking decks, the reduction in thickness of the insulation layer shall be limited to 2 % based on predominantly static effects. This applies for all applications of insulation materials with the letter symbols ds and dx according to Table 2. The minimum requirements of this standard do not apply to dynamic loads. This standard does not regulate the application of thermal insulation materials in external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS). For the application of the thermal insulation materials covered by this standard in thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS), a general building authority approval is required.
