Project

Physics of radiation in the field of optics and illuminating engineering; definitions and constants of radiation physics

Abstract

DIN 5031‑8 specifies basic radiometric terms and constants in the field of optics and for use in lighting technology. It lists key terms (e.g., wavelength, optical radiation, photon) and specifies the designation of the spectral power distribution as well as types of light and standard illuminants. In addition, the document includes important laws of optical radiation (e.g., Rayleigh–Jeans, Stefan–Boltzmann, Kirchhoff) and a compilation of relevant physical constants.
