Virtual Sensor

The German standardization committee NA 062-08-29 AA "Virtual Sensor" considers virtual sensors as a mathematical model or a software function (possibly using machine learning) for determining information from representative measured variables (in the context of non-destructive testing) and defines, for example, the requirements for the data-driven evaluation and validation of virtual sensors and describes requirements for the safe use (differentiated by sector) of virtual sensors in terms of Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 0-5. The aim is to support the planning, safety analysis and use of virtual sensors and their utilization in processes and products (in the context of non-destructive testing) along the entire life cycle.
