Overview

This standard specifies filter functions of uncoated volume filters for optical applications other than ophthalmic optics (eyeglass lenses) and gives a standardized form for their specification. Furthermore, it defines terms and description of specifications related to optical volume filters. The standard specifies the optical filter properties and the test and measurement methods whenever necessary. The standard does not specify material properties (internal quality, homogeneity and so on) and does not apply to manufacturing processes. This standard applies to both the raw material (filter glass, filter plastic and so on) and the polished filters. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 027-01-03 AA "Dünne Schichten für die Optik" ("Optical coatings") at DIN Standards Committee Optics and Precision Mechanics (NAFuO).
