Paints and varnishes - Methods for testing the resistance of coatings to ionizing radiation in nuclear plants

Title (German)

Beschichtungsstoffe - Verfahren zur Prüfung der Beständigkeit von Beschichtungen gegen ionisierende Strahlung in kerntechnischen Anlagen

Overview

This standard specifies methods for testing the resistance of organic and/or inorganic-based coatings to ionizing radiation. This standard applies to testing the resistance of coatings to long-term exposure to ionizing radiation in nuclear facilities. The scope of the standard covers ionizing radiation with a low linear energy transfer (LET). This includes beta, electron, gamma and X-rays. The transfer of the results to other types of radiation, in particular to alpha or neutron radiation, is not permissible. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 002-00-07 AA "Allgemeine Prüfverfahren für Beschichtungsstoffe und Beschichtungen" ("General test methods for coating materials and coatings") at DIN.
