Overview
DIN EN ISO 16396-1 establishes a system of designation for polyamide (PA) thermoplastic materials which is based on ISO 1043 and is intended to coordinate with the marking document DIN EN ISO 11469. The designation system may be used as the basis for specifications. It covers polyamide homopolymers, copolymers and blends of various compositions for moulding and extrusion. This standard differs from DIN EN ISO 1874-1:2011-03 as follows: a) the data block system has been simplified and connected more to DIN EN ISO 1043 and DIN EN ISO 11469, where the first two blocks are used for varietal identification and marking of products. The text of ISO 16396-1:2015 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 61 "Plastics" (secretariat: SAC, China) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and adopted as EN ISO 16396-1:2015 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 249 "Plastics", the secretariat of which is held by NBN, Belgium. The competent national standards committee is Working Committee NA 054-02-10 AA "Thermoplast-Formmassen" ("Thermoplastic materials") at the Plastics Standards Committee (FNK) at DIN at DIN e. V.
