Digital cinema - Image Projection - Part 2: Ambient light during projection and their measurement

Abstract

The ambient light level in a cinema is important for assessing the quality of image reproduction. The contrast of the image reproduction is negatively influenced by this light component. So limits need to be defined for this light component. These limit values should take account of the most unfavourable situation with regard to the projection of the picture. To determine the amount of extraneous light in a cinema, the measuring method needs to be described.
