DIN EN ISO 14644-8
Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments - Part 8: Classification of air cleanliness by chemical concentration (ACC) (ISO 14644-8:2013); German version EN ISO 14644-8:2013

Title (German)

Reinräume und zugehörige Reinraumbereiche - Teil 8: Klassifizierung der Luftreinheit anhand der Chemikalienkonzentration (ACC) (ISO 14644-8:2013); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 14644-8:2013

Overview

The series DIN EN ISO 14644 "Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments" consists of the following parts: Part 1: Classification of air cleanliness by particle concentration Part 2: Specifications for testing and monitoring to prove continued compliance with ISO 14644-1 Part 3: Test methods Part 4: Design, construction and start-up Part 5: Operations Part 6: Vocabulary Part 7: Separative devices (clean air hoods, gloveboxes, isolators and mini-environments) Part 8: Classification of air cleanliness by chemical concentration (ACC) Part 9: Classification of surface cleanliness by particle concentration Part 10: Classification of surface cleanliness by chemical concentration Part 8 deals with the classification of air chemical cleanliness (ACC) in cleanrooms and associated controlled environments, in terms of airborne concentrations of specific chemical substances (individual, group or category) and provides a protocol to include test methods, analysis and time-weighted factors within the specification for classification. The standard considers only concentrations of air chemical contaminants in the range of 100 g/m3 and 10-12 g/m3 under cleanroom operational conditions and is not applicable in those industries, processes or productions where the presence of airborne chemical substances is not considered a risk to the product or process. It is not the intention of this part of ISO 14644 to describe the nature of air chemical contaminants. This part of ISO 14644 does not give a classification of surface chemical contamination. The standard has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 209 "Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments" in collaboration with the Technical Committee CEN/TC 243 "Cleanroom technology", the secretariat of which is held by BSI (United Kingdom). The committee responsible for the German version is Working Committee NA 041-02-21 AA "Reinraumtechnik (SpA CEN/TC 243 und ISO/TC 209)" ("Cleanroom technology (Mirror committee CEN/TC 243 and ISO/TC 209)") at the Standards Committee for Heating and Ventilation (NHRS) at DIN the German Institute for Standardization e. V. This document is intended as a replacement for DIN EN ISO 14644-8:2007-04. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN ISO 14644-8:2007-04: a) the title has been changed to read "Classification of air cleanliness by chemical concentration (ACC)"; b) "molecular contamination" has been replaced by "chemical contamination"; c) the standard has been harmonized with the newly released DIN EN ISO 14644-10, Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments - Part 10: Classification of surface cleanliness by chemical concentration.
