Buried pipelines - Electromagnetic, constructional and thermal interference by high voltage direct current transmission cables (HVDC cables), measures and minimum distances

In connection with the energy transition, it is planned, among other things, that the electrical energy generated predominantly in the north by wind power will be transported to the south. This will require an expansion of the existing overground AC transmission grid, in part with underground, multi-strand high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and high-voltage three-phase current (HVAC) transmission. Against this background, pipeline operators are increasingly confronted with enquiries in the context of planning approval. The standard will therefore explain the fundamental aspects of interference to be taken into account and specify measures to avoid interference from thermal, electrical and electromagnetic as well as constructive interference on buried pipelines.
