Ergonomics of human-system interaction - Part 1: Introduction to the ISO 9241 series

Abstract

This part of ISO 9241: - introduces the multi-part standard for the ergonomics of human system interaction - describes the scope of theISO 9241 series - gives an overview of all parts currently published - provides guidance on how this multi-part standard is intended to beused, and by whom; - describes how conformance to parts of ISO 9241 can be reported.For the purpose of ISO 9241 interactive systems include all aspects of products, systems and services that are based on, or include,computing technology. This includes a wide range of applications that vary in size and complexity, for example, off the shelf (shrink-wrap)software products, custom office systems, plant monitoring systems, automated banking systems, web sites and applications, and consumer products, such as vending machines, mobile phones and digital television. In addition standards within the 9241 series provideergonomic requirements and recommendations for computer based equipment that is used across a wide range of applications for example visual displays, input devices and software.
