Overview
This standard specifies the dimensions of hard material inserts with rounded corners and with a partly cylindrical fixing hole. These inserts are primarily intended to be mounted on turning and boring tools using a countersunk head screw or any other fixing element, such as a pin lock. This International Standard ISO 6987:2012 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 29, Subcommittee SC 29, "Tools with defined cutting edges, cutting items" (secretariat: Germany), with the participation of German experts. Mirror Committee NA 121-01-12 AA "Dreh- und Bohrwerkzeuge mit Wendeschneidplatten aus harten Schneidstoffen" ("Turning- and drilling tools with indexable inserts made of hard cutting materials") decided about the unmodified publication of the standard as DIN ISO 6987.
