Overview

This standard specifies the test requirements for PP insulation compounds and the physical properties of the granules for the insulation of coaxial cables. The relatively soft PP-S1 and PP-F1 compounds have good properties at low temperatures and are highly stabilized. Grades PP-S2 and PP-F2 exhibit properties more typical of polypropylene and are designed for general coax applications where high crush resistance and superior dielectric properties are needed. Using raw material and type test data as outlined in this standard, the raw material supplier will have sufficient data to demonstrate compliance and warrant that the material is suitable for the specified application. The responsible committee is DKE/K 412 "Kommunikationskabel (Kabel, Leitungen, Wellenleiter, Lichtwellenleiter, Komponenten, Zubehör und Anlagentechnik für die Nachrichten- und Informationsübertragung" ("Communication cables (cables, conductors, waveguides, fibre optic cables, components, accessories and systems technology for communication and data transmission") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
