CEN-CENELEC Pin Award Presentation 2017
Honouring Ortwin Pfaff and Jamie Thompson for their outstanding commitment.
Ortwin Pfaff and Jamie Thompson were presented with the Pin Award 2017 during the CEN-CENELEC Technical Body Officers Seminar in Brussels on 6 December 2017. Every two years, CEN and CENELEC present this prestigious award to a maximum of ten individuals who lead Technical Committees (TC) and who have contributed to the success of their TC through their extraordinary personal efforts.
Ortwin Pfaff has been the head of CEN/TC 294 “Communication systems for meters” since 2012. During his term, Pfaff has skillfully led CEN/TC 294 through various organizational changes. Thanks to his consistently neutral position, his personal commitment and targeted networking, he was able to secure the Technical Committee's future and further solidify his position within the international standards community.
Jamie Thompson has been responsible for the work of CEN/TC 393 (previously CEN/TC 221/SC 2) “Equipment for storage tanks and for filling stations” for more than 20 years. Under Mr. Thompson’s leadership, CEN/TC 393 developed numerous standards that set the benchmark in safety and environmental protection and take into account current technical developments and their implications for the body of standards. Jamie Thompson gives presentations worldwide on the work of this TC and has been instrumental in increasing the acceptance and application of standards.
DIN holds the secretariat of the Technical Committees led by Ortwin Pfaff and Jamie Thompson. Both prize winners were nominated by members of DIN’s staff to express gratitude and appreciation for their exceptional contributions.
