SME Commission (KOMMIT)

SMEs and standardization

Standardization is an essential element for the success of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), especially when it comes to developing innovations, opening up new markets and gaining a knowledge lead.

DIN's SME Commission (KOMMIT) is a platform for SMEs regarding all aspects of standardization.

KOMMIT was founded in 2008 as a platform for exchanging information and opinions among decision-makers from the trades, small businesses, and liberal professions, as well as representatives from the public and private sectors, associations and chambers of commerce.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) often find it hard to keep up with and become involved in standardization. This website provides information and advice that will help SMEs become more involved in standards work and gain better access to the standards and specifications they need. Using standards and participating in the standardization process bring many advantages for SMEs, for example:

  • Easier access to markets
  • Lower transaction costs
  • Lower adjustment costs
  • Greater legal and investment security
  • A time advantage and knowledge lead
  • Influence on the content of standards
