International Secretariats

If DIN holds the secretariat of an international committee, the work is said to be lead-managed by Germany. DIN staff contribute a wealth of technological knowlege and many years of experience in running international secretariats. At the moment DIN holds 17 % of all ISO secretariats and DKE 18,8 % of all IEC secretariats. With a share of 50 % of all secretariats, Europe has considerable scope for influencing the form standards take.

Readiness to assume responsibility for looking after and funding a large number of international secretariats is testimony to the importance attached to maintaining national interests in supraregional standardization. This commitment also tells much about the relevance of individual national standards bodies and the innovative capacity of an economy.
