New help desk for SMEs

DIN has expanded its services for small and medium enterprises

(2010-06-03) At DIN's new SME help desk (www.mittelstand.din.de) small and medium size businesses now have a new contact point for all questions dealing with standardization, especially on how to participate in standards work. The help desk will help SMEs better identify with standards and specifications and use them to a greater extent. Companies interested in actively participating in the standards-making process will also find useful information there.

This free service is just one of many provided by DIN for small businesses at www.mittelstand.din.de. Others include

- the draft standards portal at which businesses can quickly find texts to draft standards and submit their comments, an easy way to have an influence on the development of future standards,
- the standards portal for the trades industry which helps persons working in the trades easily find the documents they need,
- the Germany-China Standards Information Portal, a major source of information on standards and standardization systems in both countries, and
- the possibility of organizing virtual meetings at DIN (web conferencing).

A similar service is provided at the CEN-CENELEC SME help desk at which small and medium size businesses can gain information about the benefits of standardization and participation in standards work at European level.
